FIRST COLLECTION
SOLIDARITY
In our first collection Solidarity, we identified our social challenge as ensuring inclusive and quality education for all. We focused on displaced Syrian refugee children living in Istanbul. Our creative art therapy workshops encouraged them to express their thoughts, feelings and experiences in a unique and subjective way through art. Their expressions have turned into the design of our garments and with every purchase we give back design costs of all our items to the refugee community through SPI(Small Projects İstanbul)’s Back to School Project.
MOBIUS
Line-art
Drawing emotions

Line art enables children to communicate their emotional experiences with abstract representations.

MOBIUS represents a visual expression of chaos.
We named after the Möbius strip.
3HUGGERS
Process - art

Painting with yarn

Process art is emphasizes the actual process of making art rather than a delivery of end product. Through painting with yarn, children played with colourful paints and yarns, creating an independent space for themselves, discovering their own surroundings and movements.

3HUGGERS is a reflection of community living. We named after three hugging figures.
PEACE
Process - art

Drawing memories from home

Children drew memories from their homes, creating a memory canvas of their own. A memory canvas helps children to bridge the gap between their new habitat and their homes, encouraging them to embrace changing situations.

We named it PEACE, just the contrary of a war machine.
SKYHIGH
Process - art

Drawing memories from home

Children drew memories from their homes, creating a memory canvas of their own. A memory canvas helps children to bridge the gap between their new habitat and their homes, encouraging them to embrace changing situations.

SKYHIGH is a depiction of limitless skies. We named it for the unconstrained imagination.
REDKID
Process - art

Creating a past, present and future self-portrait.

Based on the idea of transformational therapy, drawing self-portraits using marker pens and crayons enabled children to reflect the undergone changes and transformations in their lives.

REDKID is a portrait of a 6 year old. We named after the famous cowboy.
We are moved and inspired by the creativity and resourcefulness of the humans we interact with. We want to share their stories through their unique creativity and self-expression.
This is why we chose art therapy as a method of design.

Art therapy is originated in the fields of human development and visual art. It’s based on the idea that creative process involved in self-expression helps humans to develop self-awareness and insight. It encourages people to express their thoughts, feelings, ideas and experiences in a unique and subjective way through art.

In November 2016, in partnership with Small Projects Istanbul we came together with 40 displaced Syrian refugee children aged from 6 to 12.

Following HCPC’s guidelines on art therapy and with the assistance of therapists and local translators, we conducted art therapy workshops encompassing themes of line-art, process-art, memory canvas and self-portrait.

Our art therapy programs provided a playful, non-judgmental and free space for children to discover their surroundings and create freely. We celebrate their freedom of self-expression and we proudly embrace their unique reflections.

We believe this is the most genuine form of design.
